It’s been a minute since I’ve written, and it’ll be another minute until I write anything again. However, I realized that I told Instagram and Facebook that I would not be creating new content, but failed to mention that to the rest of you who may not be on those platforms. So let me fill you in on why I am taking my mental break this August.
At the end of July, I did a podcast interview (HERE) centering around my mental health and self care journey, then to now. I’d said a lot in that interview that I hadn’t ever really spoke about. I mean, I had the feelings all along, and I would touch on them sometimes or they would manifest in different ways. But to sit in a good head space and really unpack all of that, was a different kind of feelings. It made me reevaluate some things, practice what I preach, and made me really want to take some time to myself. You know what they say: “You can’t pour from an empty cup”. So, I decided that August was going to be the perfect time, before school starts again, to take a break and focus on myself and my energy (Still love y’all, but it’s not about you right now lol). This will all make more sense once you listen to the interview (HERE again).
All this to say that, you need to take time for yourself. It is a must. You need time to feel, or to process, to grieve, to be angry. We all having something that we are trying to heal from, for whatever amount of time we’ve been healing. You cannot give to others – your kids, your spouse, your friends, you coworkers- before you give to yourself. After all, you deserve it.
